Surgical Treatment of Penile Sclerosing lipogranuloma.



Abstract
We have treated 51 patients for penile sclerosing lipogranuloma caused by a foreign substance such as paraffin or Vaseline. According to the extent of the lipogranuloma, we classified the patients preoperatively into three group: lesion confined
to
the
distal penile shaft(type I), extension to the mid or whole penile shaft (type II), and extension to the glans penis(type III). All 18 patients with type I lipogranuloma and 8 to the 10 patients with type II lipogranuloma under went successful
primary
closure of the skin defect after complete excision of the lesion. Scrotal advancement flap penoplasty was performed to cover the skin defect in 17 of 18 patients with type II lipogranuloma and 2 of 4 patients with type III or lipogranuloma in
whom
secondary repairs were required because of would disruption. With staged bipedicled scrotal flaps. We treated 3 patients with type III or type II lipogranuloma skin defects and lipogranuloma extending to the glans penis.
